The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, has convened a strategic engagement to accelerate the update of the Lagos State Single Social Register.
The meeting, held at the Radio Lagos Multipurpose Hall, brought together Community-Based Targeting teams, local government coordinators, and field enumerators across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in the state.
The session, themed “Closing the Gap: Accelerating Lagos State Single Social Register Update,” highlights the state’s commitment to data-driven governance and inclusive social protection systems.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, commended field personnel for their dedication and urged them to intensify efforts to ensure the register reflects current realities.
He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continuously strengthen the register as a vital tool for identifying vulnerable residents and delivering targeted interventions.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Olayinka Modupe Ojo, described the register as a cornerstone for effective planning and implementation of social programmes.
She noted that the ongoing update would improve data reliability, coordination, and service delivery, while expanding access to key interventions such as financial support, healthcare, and education.
Ojo added that advocacy and sensitisation efforts would be scaled across all local governments and LCDAs to ensure wider inclusion of residents.
The engagement also aims to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, enhance data quality, and promote transparency in grassroots data collection.
The initiative underscores Lagos State’s commitment to leveraging accurate data, innovation, and partnerships to reduce vulnerability and improve the quality of life for its residents.
