Lagos State Education District III, in collaboration with TechFam, has successfully hosted the 2026 Robotics Demonstration Competition aimed at empowering female students in science and technology.

The event, held at the National Stadium Surulere, brought together girls from various schools across the district under the theme, “Science Leading the Path to Growth and Development.”

TechFam, founded by Kelechi C Iwuamadi, focuses on promoting digital skills among girls, encouraging them to actively engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), particularly robotics.

Speaking at the competition, the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary of the District, Olawale Olusegun Osinaike, commended the organisation for its commitment to empowering the girl child through technology-driven initiatives.

He highlighted the increasing participation and achievements of female students in the district, including representation at international competitions and leadership initiatives such as the One-Day Governor programme.

Osinaike also acknowledged the support of the Lagos State Government, noting that such partnerships align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly in advancing education and technology.

In her remarks, Iwuamadi reiterated TechFam’s commitment to raising a new generation of innovative, purpose-driven girls, adding that the initiative aligns with the vision of the World Robotics Olympiad to inspire young minds to develop solutions to real-world challenges.

She also noted the inclusion of students with special needs in previous editions, highlighting the programme’s commitment to inclusivity.

The competition featured five schools across junior and senior categories, with Dolphin Senior High School emerging as the overall winner, followed by Okesuna Junior Secondary School in second place, while Epe Junior Grammar School came third.

Winners received prizes including laptops, mobile phones, and tablets, reinforcing the district’s commitment to promoting innovation, excellence, and holistic learning.

The event underscores the district’s dedication to equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven world.
