The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and infrastructure development with the commissioning of a new fire station, increasing the number delivered under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to 11 within seven years.
The commissioning formed part of a two-day event held from April 8 to 9, 2026, during which several landmark projects were inaugurated across the state.
The projects were officially commissioned on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
One of the key projects is the Tolu School Complex located in Olodi Apapa, Ajegunle, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, which comprises 36 schools, a modern fire station, and a stadium with 19 mini football pitches.
The integration of a fire station within the complex highlights the state government’s proactive approach to protecting lives and property while promoting community development.
Also commissioned was a multi-agency complex named in honour of President Tinubu, aimed at strengthening coordination and efficiency among emergency and public service institutions.
Speaking at the event, the Controller-General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service commended the government for sustained investment in safety infrastructure, noting that the new facility would improve emergency response, especially in densely populated areas.
According to the Controller-General, Margaret Adeseye, the addition of the Tolu Fire Station brings the total number of fire service locations in Lagos to 25, with 11 established under the current administration.
She added that three more stations are at various stages of completion, with two already captured in the current budget.
The development underscores the administration’s continued efforts to build a safer, more resilient, and inclusive Lagos.
