The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, has praised Eko FM and Radio Lagos for their record-breaking performance at the Nigeria Broadcasting Awards, where both stations clinched six awards across multiple categories.
Omotoso gave the commendation when a delegation from the stations, led by General Manager Olajide Lawal, presented the awards to the management of the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
Describing the recognition as significant, the Commissioner said the awards, conferred by the apex broadcasting body, reflect the stations’ commitment to excellence and professionalism.
“This recognition is a testament to your hard work. As we say in Lagos, the reward for hard work is more work,” Omotoso said, adding that the achievement would further boost confidence in the broadcasting profession.
He assured the delegation that the accomplishment would be conveyed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, noting his administration’s continued support for media development.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Lanre Bajulaiye, congratulated the stations and attributed the success to the state government’s sustained investment in its media agencies.
He encouraged Ministries, Departments and Agencies to continue patronising state-owned media platforms, citing their wide reach and credibility.
Earlier, Lawal disclosed that the stations won awards in categories including Radio Station of the Year, Best Radio Station – News (English and Indigenous Languages), and Best Original Production in Business, Drama and Sports.
Individual honours were also secured, with Gbenga Alli-Balogun emerging Newscaster of the Year, while Titi Adeaga was named Reporter of the Year.
Lawal attributed the success to the support and leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu, as well as guidance from the Ministry, pledging that the stations would continue to uphold high standards of excellence.
With the six-award haul, Eko FM and Radio Lagos have set a new benchmark in Nigeria’s broadcasting landscape, reinforcing their reputation as leading voices in the industry.
