The Lagos State Special Offences Mobile Court has stepped up efforts to tackle environmental violations, warning that offenders will be prosecuted in line with existing laws.

Coordinator of the court, Olufemi Adekunle, made this known during a monthly technical meeting following the return of the sanitation exercise in the state.

He explained that the Mobile Court was established to address the growing rate of environmental offences and ensure swift justice for violators. According to him, the government maintains a zero-tolerance stance on infractions such as illegal waste disposal, blockage of drainage systems, and failure to use approved waste management services.

Adekunle stressed that individuals and organisations found guilty of these offences will face prosecution, noting that such actions pose serious risks to public health and the environment.

He added that the court is fully prepared to enforce compliance, warning that anyone caught littering, dumping refuse indiscriminately, or engaging in activities that degrade the environment will face the full weight of the law.

Residents were therefore urged to take responsibility by disposing of waste properly, keeping their surroundings clean, and avoiding practices that could endanger the environment.
