The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has continued its grassroots campaign against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) with a community engagement session held in Somolu.

The sensitisation programme brought together members of 12 Community Development Associations (CDAs), including Ijobu-Tedo, SakSak, Layo-Otegbaade, Boshua, Aoolta, Aroda, Irebamisi, Apata, Onaolapo, Boshua West, Ifesowapo, and Agbajowo CDAs.

In his welcome address, CDC Chairman, Telia Tajudeen, commended the agency for its consistent efforts in promoting safety, awareness, and community well-being across Lagos State.

Representing the Executive Secretary of DSVA, Bunmi Amosu and Richard Akanbi, outlined the agency’s core mandate, stressing its commitment to eliminating SGBV in the state.

During the session, participants were educated on various forms of sexual violence and child abuse, as well as the legal consequences attached to such offences. The facilitators also highlighted the importance of speaking up and reporting incidents promptly.

Residents were informed about available reporting channels, including the Family Support Unit (FSU), Primary Health Care Centres, and other support services provided by DSVA for survivors. The agency also shared its toll-free helpline to encourage quick access to help and intervention.

The engagement ended with appreciation from community representatives, who praised DSVA for bringing the awareness initiative directly to the grassroots and reaffirmed their commitment to building safer communities.
