The Federal Government says it has secured 386 convictions out of 508 terrorism-related cases in a recent mass trial held in Abuja.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, disclosed this while briefing journalists on Friday.
According to him, two defendants were acquitted while eight others were discharged during the proceedings conducted at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
He explained that the convicts were sentenced to various jail terms ranging from eight years to life imprisonment, depending on the severity of their offences.
Fagbemi said a further batch of 112 suspects will be arraigned in the next phase of the mass trial scheduled for June 15 to 18.
He noted that the mass prosecution is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and demonstrate zero tolerance for terrorism and violent crime.
The Attorney-General also commended the 10 judges who presided over the cases, noting that they worked during the Easter holiday to ensure the trials were concluded.
He added that the proceedings were observed by representatives of international and local bodies, including civil society organisations, to ensure transparency and due process.
