The National Sports Commission (NSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting para-athletes in Nigeria, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to excel in sports.

The Chairman of the NSC, Shehu Dikko, gave the assurance at the closing ceremony of the 3rd National Para Games in Abuja, describing the event as a celebration of resilience, inclusion and national unity.

He commended the athletes for their performances, noting that their courage and discipline have continued to bring pride to the country, while stressing that the games are not only about winning medals but also about promoting dignity, visibility and inclusion.

Dikko also highlighted ongoing reforms in the sports sector under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, including improved funding structures and plans for sports infrastructure development.

He further noted that para-sports remain a key focus of the commission’s strategy, adding that the National Para Games continue to serve as a platform for talent discovery and national integration.

The NSC leadership also praised the contributions of coaches, officials, families and stakeholders, while encouraging states to support the development of sports despite economic challenges.
