Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has advocated for safe products and the protection of consumer rights at a regulatory parley organised by FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Limited in Lagos.
The General Manager of LASCOPA emphasised the theme “Safe Products, Confident Consumers,” noting that consumer confidence depends on the availability of safe, high-quality goods that meet regulatory standards. He stressed that when consumers are assured of product safety, they are better empowered to make informed choices in the marketplace.
He also reiterated that consumers have the right to seek redress in cases involving defective or unsafe products, urging businesses to replace faulty goods or provide appropriate compensation in line with consumer protection laws. He encouraged consumers to report grievances through the proper channels, assuring continued commitment to safeguarding consumer rights.
The parley brought together key stakeholders from federal and state regulatory agencies, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), NAFDAC, SON, NESREA, and several Lagos State agencies, to strengthen collaboration, regulatory alignment and compliance.
It also provided a platform for dialogue between regulators and FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Limited, reinforcing commitment to product quality, transparency and best practices, while highlighting the importance of public-private sector cooperation in advancing consumer protection, food safety and sustainable industry growth.
