Polaris Bank Plants Trees at Lekki Conservation Centre to Promote Environmental Sustainability

Polaris Bank has planted trees at the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation and address climate change.

The exercise, held in collaboration with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), is part of the bank's nationwide tree-planting initiative launched in 2024.

The programme has recorded 10,000 trees planted across 16 locations in the Federal Capital Territory and 13 states.

Speaking at the exercise, Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Polaris Bank, Abimbola Ozomah, said sustainability remains central to the bank's operations and community engagement activities.

Ozomah explained that the initiative goes beyond climate action, noting that planting economic trees could improve soil fertility, increase vegetation cover, restore degraded land and create potential income opportunities for communities as the trees mature.

She also stressed the need for collective responsibility in environmental protection, urging staff, partners and other stakeholders to support efforts to nurture the planted trees.

The bank said the initiative reflects its continued involvement in environmental conservation, climate resilience and sustainable community development.
