Mobile banking is providing Nigerians with easier ways to manage their finances, pay bills and complete routine transactions without visiting physical bank branches.

The growing use of digital banking applications is helping customers save time, avoid long queues and handle financial responsibilities while attending to their businesses, jobs and other daily activities.

For business owners, employees and individuals with demanding schedules, the ability to complete routine transactions remotely offers an alternative to spending valuable time travelling to banking halls.

Although physical branches remain relevant for specialised services, financial advice and complex transactions, several everyday banking activities can now be completed through mobile applications.

The Fidelity Mobile App offers customers services such as funds transfers, airtime purchases, bill payments, account balance enquiries, mini statements, debit card requests and selected cross-border payments.

Customers can also review beneficiary details before authorising transfers, check their account balances before making purchases and monitor recent transactions to keep track of their finances.

Beyond domestic transactions, the application provides eligible customers with access to the Pan African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), which supports cross-border payments initiated in Naira, with beneficiaries receiving the applicable local currency.

The service can facilitate eligible business payments, educational obligations and family support across available African payment corridors, subject to applicable requirements and charges.

However, the increasing adoption of mobile banking also makes digital security an important consideration.

Customers are advised to download banking applications only from official application stores, protect their login credentials and never disclose their personal identification numbers or one-time passwords.

They are also encouraged to verify beneficiary details and transaction amounts before authorising payments and regularly monitor their accounts for unfamiliar activities.

Mobile banking does not eliminate the need for traditional banking services but provides customers with additional channels to manage their financial needs.

Through its digital banking offering, Fidelity Bank is seeking to make routine transactions more accessible, allowing customers to carry out several banking activities without necessarily visiting a branch.

The convenience of mobile banking ultimately lies in giving customers greater flexibility, reducing avoidable delays and making everyday financial transactions easier to complete.
