Polaris Bank has strengthened its environmental sustainability efforts with a tree planting exercise at the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos, in collaboration with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF).

The initiative, held on October 12, 2026, forms part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to promote climate action, environmental conservation and sustainable community development.

The exercise builds on the bank’s nationwide tree planting programme launched in 2024, which has recorded the planting of 10,000 trees across 16 locations in the Federal Capital Territory and 13 states.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Polaris Bank, Abimbola Ozomah, said sustainability remained a guiding principle of the bank’s operations and community engagement.

Ozomah noted that the initiative goes beyond addressing climate change, explaining that planting economic trees could help restore degraded land, improve soil fertility, increase vegetation cover and create potential income opportunities for communities as the trees mature.

She also stressed the need for collective responsibility, urging staff, partners and other stakeholders to support environmental conservation and ensure the seedlings are properly nurtured.

The bank said the exercise reflects its continued commitment to practical environmental initiatives that promote ecological restoration, climate resilience and community development.

Through its nationwide tree planting programme and partnerships with organisations such as the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, Polaris Bank aims to contribute to a greener and more sustainable Nigeria.
