The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its preferred candidate for a second term in office, reinforcing the party’s commitment to continuity and what it described as “transformative leadership.”

The endorsement followed a strategic stakeholders’ meeting attended by APC governors, members of the National Assembly, members of the National Working Committee, and other influential figures within the party structure. According to party officials, the decision was reached after reviewing the administration’s performance and reform trajectory.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, party leaders commended Tinubu’s economic reforms, particularly measures aimed at restructuring fiscal policy, stabilizing the naira, and attracting foreign investment. They acknowledged that while some policies have presented short-term challenges for citizens, the long-term vision remains focused on sustainable growth and national prosperity.

Several APC governors reportedly spoke in favor of policy continuity, emphasizing that structural reforms require time to yield measurable results. They stressed that political stability and consistent leadership are essential for maintaining investor confidence and strengthening governance institutions.

Party insiders described the endorsement as both strategic and symbolic. Strategically, it consolidates internal party unity early, minimizing the likelihood of divisive primaries. Symbolically, it sends a clear message to opposition parties that the APC is firmly aligned behind its incumbent leader.

The APC leadership highlighted key focus areas of the administration, including infrastructure expansion, security reform, digital economy growth, and social intervention programs. They noted ongoing road and rail projects, initiatives to boost local production, and renewed efforts to strengthen national security coordination.

While opposition parties are yet to issue formal reactions, political analysts believe the early endorsement may reshape the political landscape, prompting rival parties to accelerate their own internal consultations and coalition strategies.

The endorsement also reflects Tinubu’s long-standing influence within the APC. As a founding member and key strategist in previous electoral victories, his political capital within the party remains significant. Observers suggest that the move demonstrates strong internal loyalty and strategic cohesion.

As Nigeria gradually approaches another election cycle, the APC’s endorsement sets the stage for what is expected to be a competitive and highly consequential political season. For now, the ruling party appears united, projecting confidence in its leadership and signaling readiness for the road ahead.

More updates are expected as preparations for the next general elections gather momentum.
