The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has stepped up efforts to improve parking compliance across the state, taking its sensitisation campaign to Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area ahead of planned enforcement activities.
The campaign, which featured a roadshow across major parts of the council area, engaged residents, motorists and business owners on the importance of responsible parking and adherence to the state's parking regulations.
Speaking during the exercise, the General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, represented by the Executive Assistant to the Governor on LASPA, Mr. Deen Sanwoola, said the initiative was aimed at educating road users on the consequences of indiscriminate parking and its impact on traffic flow, pedestrian safety and access to properties.
According to her, effective parking management involves not only the provision of parking facilities but also ensuring that motorists understand appropriate parking practices and avoid obstructing roads, walkways and other public spaces.
Adelabu urged motorists and business owners to make use of designated parking areas and desist from practices that create traffic bottlenecks or hinder pedestrian movement.
The sensitisation campaign forms part of LASPA’s broader strategy to promote orderly parking culture across Lagos and improve traffic management through increased public awareness and compliance.
