Lagos State Governor and Visitor to Lagos State University, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has rewarded the institution’s two best graduating students with a cash gift of ₦20 million each.

Sanwo-Olu announced the personal donation on Wednesday during LASU’s 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremonies held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo.

The beneficiaries are Ayilara Lawal Olawale, who emerged as the best graduating student for the 2024/2025 academic session, and Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide, who emerged as the best graduating student for the 2025/2026 session.

Olawale, a graduate of Project Management Technology, finished with a CGPA of 4.96 and First Class honours, while Oluolamide, who studied Aerospace Engineering, recorded a CGPA of 4.97, also graduating with First Class honours.

The governor said the reward was his personal contribution to recognise the students’ academic excellence, diligence and commitment.

The two graduates were among the 20,604 students graduating from LASU across the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

The cash reward brings the total amount received by Oluolamide to ₦30 million, following an earlier ₦10 million award under the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme.
