The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) has commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, for the professional conduct of police officers during the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The association also congratulated IGP Disu and his wife, Mrs. Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, on their 30th wedding anniversary, describing the milestone as a reflection of stability, discipline and partnership.

In a congratulatory statement signed by NAOSNP National President, Mayor Oki O. Samson, the association described the couple's three decades of marriage as a significant achievement.

The association noted that Mrs. Disu, who is the National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), has remained a supportive partner to the IGP throughout his more than three decades of policing.

NAOSNP also highlighted what it described as the IGP's contributions to the security reforms of the President Bola Tinubu administration, particularly his emphasis on personnel welfare, intelligence-led policing and community engagement.

According to the association, IGP Disu's leadership has complemented the government's broader security reform agenda, including efforts toward state policing and other measures aimed at strengthening Nigeria's security architecture.

The association particularly praised the police for their conduct during the Osun governorship election, noting that the IGP directed a major security deployment to the state under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Ishyaku Mohammed.

The deployment included police mobile units across the 30 local government areas of the state, as well as air and drone surveillance.

NAOSNP said the police also engaged civil society organisations, including Yiaga Africa, ahead of the election in an effort to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.

While acknowledging isolated incidents, the association said the overall conduct of security personnel was widely commended by candidates, electoral officials, media practitioners and residents.

NAOSNP National President, Mayor Oki Samson, said the Osun election demonstrated that professional and neutral policing could strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.

“Osun has once again proven that when the Police lead with professionalism and neutrality, Nigerians reward that conduct with confidence in the process,” Samson said.

The association further described the 30th wedding anniversary of IGP Disu and his wife as an opportunity to celebrate the values of discipline, patience and commitment.

NAOSNP wished the couple many more years of marital bliss and expressed confidence that the same values that have sustained their marriage would continue to guide IGP Disu in his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
