Officials of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), through its Project WISE team, in collaboration with the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) Corps and the Nigeria Police, have sealed warehouses and market stalls along the Ijesha and Cele corridors for repeated environmental sanitation violations.

The enforcement exercise targeted the Oluremi Tinubu Warehouse and Anambra Warehouse located around Ijesha Bus Stop, as well as market stalls along the Cele Under Bridge corridor.

According to LAWMA, the facilities were sanctioned for persistent illegal dumping of waste on road medians and highways, contrary to the environmental sanitation laws of Lagos State.

The agency said the enforcement action forms part of ongoing efforts to protect public infrastructure, improve environmental cleanliness and ensure compliance with waste management regulations across the state.

LAWMA stated that the affected warehouses and market stalls will remain sealed until all stipulated sanitation requirements are met and the operators demonstrate compliance with environmental standards.

The authority warned residents, business owners, market operators and commercial establishments against indiscriminate waste disposal, stressing that illegal dumping of refuse remains a punishable offence under the state’s environmental laws.

LAWMA urged members of the public to patronise only approved waste disposal channels and maintain clean surroundings to support the government's drive for a cleaner and healthier Lagos.
