Leading financial institution, Fidelity Bank Plc, has reinforced its commitment to social welfare through a comprehensive intervention at Heritage Homes Orphanage in Anthony Village, Lagos.

The initiative was carried out under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), the bank’s employee-led corporate social responsibility platform that enables staff to identify community needs, raise funds and receive matching support from the bank to implement impactful projects.

The outreach was championed by the Audacious Class of newly inducted employees and focused on addressing critical needs at the orphanage. Interventions included the renovation of damaged roofing and POP ceilings, fumigation of the facility, provision of food supplies and payment of school fees for some of the children.

Speaking during the outreach, Fidelity Bank’s Divisional Head, Brand and Communications, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the programme reflects the bank’s commitment to empowering employees to support causes that positively impact their communities.

According to him, the team identified the orphanage’s most urgent needs and implemented targeted interventions aimed at improving the welfare and wellbeing of the children.

Nwagboh noted that the project aligns with the objectives of the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme, which seeks to create sustainable and lasting impact through employee-driven community initiatives.

He added that the intervention would provide the children with a safer environment, improved access to essential supplies and continued educational opportunities.

Responding on behalf of the orphanage, Assistant General Manager of Heritage Homes Orphanage, Irene Light, described the intervention as timely and life-changing.

She expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank for renovating the facility, providing food items, fumigating the home and supporting the education of the children through payment of school fees.

According to her, the support will significantly improve living conditions within the orphanage, restore dignity to the facility and provide a more conducive environment for the children’s growth and development.

The intervention forms part of Fidelity Bank’s broader commitment to community development, education and social inclusion, reinforcing its efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable groups across Nigeria.
