The Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO), in collaboration with the Resilient Cities Network and ARUP, has organised a community engagement workshop in the Ajegunle-Ikorodu Community aimed at strengthening grassroots participation in resilience planning and promoting inclusive approaches to addressing local challenges.

The engagement brought together community leaders, residents and development partners to identify priority resilience achievements and challenges, validate community experiences and explore practical solutions to improve the community's capacity to respond to shocks and stresses.

Speaking during the workshop, the Chief Resilience Officer of LASRO, Dr. Folayinka Dania, represented by Assistant Director, Town Planning, Tpl. Olufemi Dada, underscored the importance of community involvement in building resilient neighbourhoods. He encouraged residents to actively share their experiences and perspectives to support the development of sustainable resilience interventions.

Participants took part in a series of interactive activities and participatory exercises designed to identify key social, environmental and infrastructural issues affecting the community. The discussions provided valuable insights into local priorities and opportunities for strengthening resilience at the grassroots level.

The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment by LASRO, the Resilient Cities Network, ARUP and community stakeholders to continue working together on resilience initiatives that will enhance the ability of the Ajegunle-Ikorodu Community to anticipate, withstand and recover from future shocks and stresses.
