Fidelity Bank Plc has extended food support to more than 1,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State through its Fidelity Food Bank Initiative, reaffirming its commitment to addressing hunger and supporting vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

The humanitarian outreach was carried out in partnership with the Plateau State Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Office and with support from the ABBASID Charity Foundation. Beneficiaries received essential food items, including rice, noodles and tomatoes, to help ease the challenges faced by displaced families living in transit camps.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the initiative was designed to provide relief and sustenance to vulnerable groups across the country.

According to him, the intervention reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting communities affected by hardship and displacement while contributing to efforts aimed at reducing hunger and improving livelihoods.

The food distribution forms part of Fidelity Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, which focuses on tackling food insecurity and providing assistance to underserved communities.

Also speaking, the Project Coordinator of the Plateau State Sustainable Development Goals Office, Mrs. Nanbam Danjuma-Lot, described the intervention as timely, noting that many families in the camps continue to face significant hardship following attacks and displacement in recent years.

She commended Fidelity Bank and its partners for supporting affected communities and helping them rebuild their lives.

Founder of the ABBASID Charity Foundation, Mrs. Hauwa Abbas, highlighted the importance of partnerships in addressing food insecurity, stating that the collaboration with Fidelity Bank has enabled the foundation to reach dozens of vulnerable communities nationwide.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, the Village Head of Changal Community, Mr. Titus Abednago, expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank, the Plateau State Government and other stakeholders for the support, describing the intervention as a source of hope and relief for many displaced families.

He also appealed for sustained efforts to restore peace and security to affected communities to enable residents return to their farms and rebuild their livelihoods.
