Fidelity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to social welfare and community development with a comprehensive intervention at Heritage Homes Orphanage in Anthony Village, Lagos.
The initiative was carried out under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), the Bank’s flagship employee-driven corporate social responsibility scheme that enables staff to identify and execute impactful community projects with support from the institution.
The outreach was championed by the Bank’s Audacious Class of newly inducted employees and focused on addressing critical needs at the orphanage. The intervention included the replacement of damaged roofing and POP ceiling, fumigation of the facility, provision of food supplies and payment of school fees for some of the children.
Speaking during the outreach, the Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the programme reflects the Bank’s commitment to empowering employees to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
According to him, the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme provides staff with the opportunity to invest their time, resources and talents in projects that improve lives and create lasting impact.
He explained that after assessing the orphanage’s most pressing needs, the employees implemented three major interventions focused on infrastructure improvement, food support and educational assistance.
Nwagboh noted that the project aligns with the Bank’s vision of driving sustainable development and creating positive change in communities where it operates.
He added that the intervention has provided the children with a safer living environment, access to essential food supplies and the assurance of continued education.
Responding on behalf of the orphanage, Assistant General Manager of Heritage Homes Orphanage, Irene Light, described the intervention as timely and transformative.
She expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank for renovating the facility, fumigating the home, providing food items and supporting the education of the children through the payment of school fees.
According to her, the support will improve the quality of life of the children, restore dignity to the facility and create a more conducive environment for learning and development.
Light also commended the Bank for its commitment to community empowerment and offered prayers for its continued growth and success.
