The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) has intensified efforts to promote entrepreneurship and financial inclusion by sensitising vocational skills trainees in IBA Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on its business loan schemes and support programmes.
The sensitisation session was held as part of activities marking the 2026 World Youth Skills Day celebration organised by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), IBA LCDA Branch, under the theme “Skills for a Shared Future.”
The programme attracted more than 100 participants, including vocational trainees, entrepreneurs, youth leaders and skills coordinators, who were encouraged to acquire technical, digital, artificial intelligence and life skills needed to succeed in today's economy.
Representatives of the Fund, Olajide Lukmon and Onwuatuelo Josephine, educated participants on LSETF's loan products, eligibility requirements, application procedures and available financing opportunities for entrepreneurs and business owners across Lagos State.
The session generated significant interest, with participants seeking clarification on how to access the Fund's financial support and business development opportunities.
In response, the Skills Principal Coordinator pledged to mobilise graduates of previous vocational training programmes to participate in the upcoming LSETF loan application drive scheduled to hold in IBA LCDA.
Speaking on the initiative, LSETF Executive Secretary, Mrs. Feyisayo Alayande, reiterated the agency's commitment to supporting skilled entrepreneurs with access to finance and business support services.
She noted that skills development becomes more impactful when combined with access to opportunities, adding that the Fund remains focused on helping entrepreneurs transform their talents into successful businesses that create jobs and contribute to economic growth.
The sensitisation exercise forms part of LSETF's broader efforts to deepen financial inclusion, strengthen entrepreneurship and expand access to affordable financing for Lagos residents.
The Fund also reaffirmed its commitment to working with communities and stakeholders across the state to drive inclusive economic growth and create sustainable employment opportunities.
