Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, has urged Lagos Traffic Radio to leverage technology, expand its coverage, and adopt innovative strategies to boost productivity and deepen public engagement.

Omotoso gave the charge at the station’s 2026 Management Retreat held at Novatel Hotel, Lekki, themed “Enhancing Organisational Productivity: Aligning People, Performance, and Purpose.” He commended the station for its role in promoting government policies and supporting traffic management in Lagos State.

He stressed the need for the station to strengthen its social media presence, make effective use of graphics for clearer communication, and invest in continuous staff training to enhance performance and competitiveness in the media industry.

In his goodwill message, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, Honourable Stephen Ogundipe, praised the General Manager, Mr. Tayo Akanle, for his leadership and urged staff to continually develop their skills as ambassadors of both the station and the state government.

Speaking at the retreat, Akanle highlighted the station’s achievements and attributed its progress to sustained capacity-building and staff development initiatives. He announced that from 2026, two members of management will attend specialised training programmes every month as part of efforts to strengthen human capital development.

He encouraged staff to translate ideas from the retreat into actionable outcomes, urging them to define clear goals and accountability measures.

The retreat featured lectures from resource persons, including Mr. Babatunde Ogundiran, who spoke on “Leading Self before Leading Others: Personal Mastery as the Engine of Organisational Productivity,” and Mr. Babajide Adetunmbi, who delivered a presentation titled “Building Trust and Success through Teamwork.”

Other dignitaries present included Honourable Samuel Apata, and Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olanrewaju Bajulaiye.
