The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has intensified efforts toward building a cleaner and more sustainable urban transport system with the launch of the 2025 edition of the EcoMove Lagos initiative.
The week-long campaign, held from April 24 to April 30, 2025, was implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation as part of broader strategies to promote environmentally friendly mobility across the state.
According to the ministry, the initiative was designed to encourage cleaner transportation alternatives, reduce carbon emissions, improve traffic management, and strengthen integration among road, rail, air, and water transportation systems in Lagos.
Officials noted that the programme aligns with the THEMES+ Agenda of the Lagos State Government, particularly in advancing sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life for residents through efficient and eco-conscious transport solutions.
Activities carried out during the campaign included environmental sanitation exercises across major transport corridors and motor parks, aimed at creating cleaner public spaces and promoting environmental responsibility among commuters and operators.
Medical outreach programmes were also organised for transport workers in key motor parks across the state, providing free health checks and consultations for drivers, conductors, and other transport stakeholders.
The government said EcoMove Lagos reflects its commitment to building a modern transportation ecosystem that balances mobility, environmental sustainability, and public health while positioning Lagos as a leading smart city in Africa.
