Fidelity Bank Plc has provided critical funding support to the JKS Special Needs Academy in Abuja as part of efforts to support vulnerable children and strengthen social welfare initiatives.

The intervention was carried out under the bank’s Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), an employee-driven corporate social responsibility initiative designed to encourage staff participation in community development projects.

The support was facilitated by a group of newly recruited Fidelity Bank employees known as Team Valorem during their induction programme. Under the FHHP model, employees identify social causes, contribute part of the project funding, while the bank provides matching support.

Speaking during the outreach, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, Meksley Nwagboh, said the intervention aligns with the bank’s corporate social responsibility focus on health, social welfare, and youth empowerment.

According to him, the funding will help secure accommodation for the orphanage for another year, ensuring continued shelter and care for children living with special needs.

“This intervention reflects our belief that building a better society is a shared responsibility. The support guarantees that these children continue to have a place they can call home,” he said.

Nwagboh also stressed the importance of empowering children with special needs through skills development and inclusive opportunities that would enable them become self-reliant members of society.

Responding, Director of JKS Special Needs Academy, Nifemi Ajileye, expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank and its staff for the timely support.

She noted that caring for children with disabilities requires significant financial resources, especially for medical care and therapy, adding that the donation would help bridge critical operational gaps at the facility.

Ajileye called for sustained support from organisations and individuals to improve the welfare and future prospects of children with special needs.

The initiative reflects Fidelity Bank’s broader commitment to inclusive growth and social impact through community-focused interventions across Nigeria.

Fidelity Bank Plc currently serves more than 10 million customers through its digital banking platforms, business offices across Nigeria, and its UK subsidiary, FidBank UK.
