Sterling Bank, in collaboration with Sterling One Foundation, Lagos Waste Management Authority, Sunbeth, community volunteers and other partners, is set to launch The Great Nigeria Cleanup, a nationwide environmental initiative scheduled for April 25, 2026.
The campaign, which spans all six geopolitical zones, is aligned with the United Nations Decade of Action and will mobilise citizens across states including Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, Osun, Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Abia, Enugu, Imo, Sokoto, Kano, Benue, Plateau, Kogi and Katsina.
The initiative is aimed at tackling plastic waste, improving sanitation and promoting community-led environmental responsibility across Nigeria.
Speaking on the project, Sterling Bank’s Chief Operating Officer, Temitayo Adegoke, said the initiative reflects the importance of collective action in protecting the environment and building a culture of responsibility.
Also speaking, the CEO of Sterling One Foundation, Olapeju Ibekwe, described the campaign as a movement centred on dignity, wellbeing and shared responsibility for environmental sustainability.
Organisers say the project is a response to rising environmental challenges such as waste management and urban pollution, and is designed to drive long-term behavioural change.
Nigerians are encouraged to participate in the cleanup exercise on April 25 as part of efforts to build a cleaner and healthier country.
