The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its official timetable for activities leading to the 2027 general elections, setting mid-May 2026 for its presidential primary election.
The schedule, signed by Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, outlines key processes including the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, appeals and primaries for all elective positions.
According to the timetable, sale of forms will run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while submission of completed forms closes on May 4. Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 6 to 9, followed by screening appeals on May 12 and 13.
The party fixed its presidential primary for May 15 and 16, while House of Representatives primaries will hold on May 18, Senate on May 20, and State House of Assembly on May 21. Governorship primaries are slated for May 23, 2026.
The APC also announced nomination fees, with presidential aspirants paying ₦100 million, governorship ₦50 million, Senate ₦20 million, House of Representatives ₦10 million, and State Assembly ₦6 million.
However, the party said female aspirants, youths and persons with disabilities will enjoy discounts, paying only for expression of interest forms and 50% of nomination fees.
In a statement, APC spokesperson Felix Morka said the party is committed to a transparent and credible primary process that will strengthen internal democracy.
Analysts say the early timetable provides clarity ahead of the 2027 elections, but concerns remain over high nomination fees and their potential to limit participation.
Political activity is expected to intensify in the coming months as aspirants begin consultations and alignments ahead of the primaries, while attention also shifts to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the official election timetable
